| Collaborative-consultation in the work-place |

Collaborative-consultation is a structured way of working used by psychologists and which aims to bring about the difference at the level of the individual, group or organizational level. In the simplest sense consultaton is a special kind of conversation - one which facilitates solutions.
Issues are raised with the psychologist, and a collaborative and recursive process is initiated that combines joint problem exploration, information gathering, intervention and review. Psychologists who work in this way may use, in the process of consultation, methods derived from therapeutic systems and consultation therefore can possibly be described as a process more akin to therapy than to mere discussion. I use a range of psychological frameworks to help give shape to this way of working. These frameworks support the change process and put collaborative working at the heart of the process. As well as this psychological process, I also bring a breath of specialist 'technical" knowledge, particularly in the form of sophisticated psychological models of behaviour, development and learning that help to make sense of what is happening from a psychological perspective. Consultation-consultation is a process of forming new meanings and initiating change |
